Chawan Kase introduced here was just fired in Genyo climbing kiln . If I will give it a name, it should be Sunlight. This shape shows Ido in my idea, but it is quite different from the typical Ido tea bowl from Korai(Korea). The appearance of Ido tea bowl represented by Kizaemon Ido is really attractive for me, as a person to create Chawan.
On top of that, what should be the Ido-shaped Chawan of Asahiyaki? On every firing, I make Ido-shaped tea bowls and put them in the kiln. One is that raises the hill and brings it a little closer to the atmosphere of Korai tea bowl. Another one is more conscious of the elegance of Asahiyaki. Without single correct answer, I continue trial and error aiming for a better shape. Chawan Kase adopts the latter concept. Among the Ido-shaped tea bowls that I create, it features the small and low hill. Although it has a light impression, the potter's wheel pattern remains a little strong,. I prefer this kind of balance.
