Special pottery workshop " Create a Chawan "

Sunday, October 13

This workshop will give you the experience of making  Chawan "Gohon Tachitsuru Tea Bowl".
You can learn about the history of Chawan while creating your own.

"Gohon Tachitsuru Tea Bowl"
Based on the cranes painted by Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third shogun of the Edo Shogunate,
this semi-tubular tea bowl was commissioned to be made by the Pusan Kiln of the Joseon era.

The Nomura Art Museum, the Nezu Museum of Art, and the Kitamura Museum of Art also have tea bowls of the same type in their collections.

"Tachitsuru" means a standing crane.
This time, let's make Gohon tachitsuru tea bowl, which is also auspicious for the New Year.
