“Heritage & Function”
An aesthetic passed down from hand to hand, refined through function for the present.
Thailand and Japan.
Two cultures in circulation.
Join us for two days to experience a new tea landscape born from their intersection.
This event is structured around two elements: Learning and Experience.
■ Talk Session with Matcha
In this session, we will explore Thai and Japanese tea cultures, as well as the philosophy behind this project.
In Thailand, the katakuchi (spouted bowl) has become a familiar vessel within contemporary matcha culture. At ASAHIYAKI, together with Jev of MTCH, we developed a new katakuchi chawan called “MTCH KASE.”
While enjoying several MTCH matcha drinks, we will discuss the relationship between Heritage & Function — how tradition and performance intersect in this collaboration.
■ Matcha Experience
In this hands-on session, participants will prepare several matcha drinks using the newly created katakuchi chawan “MTCH KASE,” following MTCH’s original recipes.
To understand Thai tea culture.
To feel it directly.
Through this exchange between Thai and Japanese tea traditions, a new tea landscape begins to emerge.

Heritage & Function
Inspired by MTCH AIR, and reinterpreted by ASAHIYAKI,
MTCH KASE is a new vessel designed specifically for matcha.
Its form is engineered to guide the flow of hot water,
enhancing the functionality of whisking matcha —
a balance of performance and beauty.
At the same time, it carries the texture and presence of ASAHIYAKI’s long-standing craftsmanship.
A new form of tea, born from the circulation of cultures.
During the event period,
MTCH AIR and MTCH KASE will be available in limited quantities at ASAHIYAKI Shop & Gallery.
This is the official launch in Uji.
We warmly invite you to experience them in person.
You are welcome to visit the shop and explore MTCH AIR and MTCH KASE freely during the event period, even if you are not participating in the workshop.

The central figure behind this project and founder of MTCH.
Having cultivated matcha culture in Thailand, Jev has transformed the Thai matcha experience. He believes culture does not flow in one direction — it circulates, intersects, and evolves. From this philosophy, the new piece MTCH KASE was born.
This dialogue in Uji marks the beginning of a new chapter.

Supporting this event is Gwa, a bridge between Thai and Japanese tea culture.
To transmit culture.
To create meaningful spaces.
To deepen experience.
Standing between Thailand and Japan, Gwa carefully connects this project across borders.
Program Director of this event.
He brings a strong understanding of the contemporary Japanese tea perspective.
Together with Jev, he co-created MTCH KASE.
Over the past two years, he has visited Bangkok twice and enjoys exploring tea shops throughout the city.
At this event, he will share the perspective of Japanese tea.
