We are pleased to announce a special exhibition and workshop at Sing Tehus in Copenhagen during the 3 DAYS OF DESIGN.

This collaboration brings together two of Uji, Kyoto’s most historic and respected cultural institutions:Asahiyaki, a traditional pottery kiln founded in the 1600s, and Horii Shichimeien, a heritage tea estate and merchant established in 1879.

Asahiyaki will present a new series of tea bowls created in collaboration with Horii Shichimeien:

Tea bowl with brush-marked “Cha-no-ki” ash glaze from the Okunoyama tea fields, by Hosai XVI

Tea bowl with dohimo  “Cha-no-ki” ash glaze, by the Asahiyaki Pottery Collection

Spouted tea bowl made with tea ash from Okunoyama, by the Asahiyaki Pottery Collection

In addition, we will unveil Asahiyaki’s original “Chess set” (Chess-board)  the result of three years of careful development.

The theme of this exhibition and the accompanying workshop is “Adorn” — to wear, to embody, to carry with you.

Through the sensory experiences of tea, incense, and craftsmanship, we invite you to adorn yourself with Uji—to feel its textures, inhale its subtle aromas, and connect with the stories rooted in its land.

During the event, held at the new Sing Tehus location on Rosenvængets Allé, guests will be hosted by Toshiyuki Matsubayashi of Asahiyaki.

Enjoy tea from Horii Shichimeien and vessels by Asahiyaki, served at the counter space of the new store.

This immersive event takes place from June 18 to 20, with time slots available for reservation.
