Tea bowl / Tea tree ash glaze

Limited Item / Asahiyaki Pottery Collection

The tea bowl by ASAHIYAKI Pottery collection, created by ASAHIYAKI craftsmen. New tea bowl glazed with ash from tea trees were fired in the climbing kiln 'Genyo'. Tea trees that are around 40 years old and have reduced yields are spared by tea farmers, but are rooted out and discarded. Asahiyaki was given a share of the plucked tea trees and burned them to produce an ash glaze. This glaze is inconspicuous but has a deep colouring suitable for enjoying bright matcha.

A small tea bowl that you could use it daily. It is fired by the climbing kiln "Genyo". As for Matsubai glaze(pine ash glaze), we use glaze as a raw material by burning the red pine firewood used in the climbing kiln into ash after firing.

Tea Bowl, Hanshi ,ASAHIGAMA Pottery collection

Tea bowl with the expression of "Hanshi" that is typical of Asahiyaki, Warm, orange-colored Hanshi clay that resembles the morning sun. The clay is excavated and selected from Shirakawa and Oriiyama in Uji. The speckled pattern that develops from the clay is also viewpoint.
