Guinomi ” Sake cup", Kase , Hosai XVI
When firing a climbing kiln, various sizes of works are placed inside, from small works like sake cup to large ones like tea bowl and water container. In firing Kase (fawn spot) works, not all of them are finished in the same way. We, Asahiyaki, focus on tea bowls, so large ones like water containers and small ones like sake cups have a worse chance of producing a more satisfying work than tea bowls. Especially for sake cups, only a few percent can be completed in each firing from climing kiln, even puted lots of works . Sometimes fired nearly 100 works, but only a few ones finished beautiful. Under such circumstances, the kiln that was fired last time Kase sake cups were relatively fine. Among them, the scenery of Kase in this work is very wonderful, so I was delighted to see it many times after putting out from the kiln. I feel the thin mouth and the slightly smaller size are perfect for the expression of Kase.
