Staff Recruitment – Asahiyaki shop & gallery


For over 400 years, Asahiyaki has carried on the culture of chatō (tea ceramics) in Uji, Kyoto, sharing its beauty and philosophy while connecting it to contemporary life.
We are now looking for a new team member to join us at Asahiyaki shop & gallery.



Responsibilities

Customer service and sales (guiding customers through tea utensils and tableware)
Preparation and support for exhibitions and events
Product management, packing, and shipping
Basic computer work (inventory and customer data, email correspondence, etc.)


Through Asahiyaki’s pottery, we aim to share with our guests the richness of the tea ceremony and the beauty of living with handmade wares.
We value thoughtful communication and hospitality that reflect the spirit of the maker.



Workplace

Asahiyaki shop & gallery
67 Uji Mataburi, Uji City, Kyoto, Japan



Working Hours

9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (flexible)
Working three or more days per week, including weekends, is preferred.



Qualifications

 

Currently residing in Japan
Able to communicate and serve customers in Japanese
Interest in ceramics, crafts, tea culture, or design
Enjoys interacting with people and provides attentive service
Basic computer skills (email, Excel, etc.)


 

Experience in sales or customer service, especially in English or Chinese, is welcome.
However, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are most important.



Employment Type & Benefits

Part-time (long-term) or Full-time
Hourly wage: from ¥1,150 (commensurate with experience)
Transportation allowance (with cap)
Opportunity for full-time employment after part-time period
For full-time applicants, an internship period of several weeks will be arranged
