十六世豊斎作

Kase, literally means Fawn spot, is one of representative tea bowl of Asahiyaki. Uji pottery clay, which has been aged for many years, is fired in Genyo kiln by pine logs and the coloration of the clay body produced during the firing process for each work shows a wide variety of expression. Only one-tenth of the number resulted in firing is satisfied, that I feel , “this is good.”
The Kase`s expression of this work has both gorgeousness and refreshing lightness, and I feel that it has a brightness that makes you want to use it when it gets warm in the early spring. The shape is not intentionally strange, but I want to create a dignified appearance in a straightforward shape, therefore devoted to making the mouth and shaving from the hill to the body.
