Summer Holiday Parent & Child Pottery Workshop at Asahiyaki July 26th and 27th

Join us for our special once-a-year summer pottery experience!
In addition to hand-building your own piece, you’ll also get to try your hand at the potter’s wheel.

Your finished work will be delivered to you before the new school term begins.
We warmly welcome not only children but also parents to join in together!

(Please note: If a weather warning is issued for all of Kyoto Prefecture by 7:00 AM on the day of the event, the workshop will be cancelled.)

Fee: ¥4,500 per person
(Includes 1 piece about the size of a tea bowl, materials, and tax. Same fee applies for both children and accompanying parents.)

Potter’s wheel experience (practice only)

Capacity: 12 participants (in pairs of 2). Registration closes once full.

What to Bring: Apron and hand towel

Eligibility: Elementary school (Grade 1) to junior high school students
Due to limited space, please keep additional companions to a minimum. We encourage parents to participate alongside their children and enjoy pottery together!

Special pottery workshop " Create a Chawan "

Sunday, October 12

This workshop will give you the experience of making  Chawan "Seto-Guro Tea Bowl".
You can learn about the history of Chawan while creating your own.


"Kohiki Tea Bowl"
A type of Korea style Tea Bowl.
Also called "kohiki" or "kofuki" because the body of the bowl looks as if it has been coated with white powder.
The front of the bowl has an inverted triangle without glaze, forming a view of the "hima".

This is an Every Other Week Class on Saturday starting in October. The classes are held twice in a month, so it is easier for busy people to attend.

Trial Course of Weekly Class starting in September and November.

This is a trial course which you can try the first three sessions of the weekly class. After completing the three sessions, you can join the weekly course from the fourth session.
